You are being bullied if someone else’s behaviour makes you feel hurt, threatened, scared or intimidated. At some point in their lives, everyone has experienced bullying.
Children, young people and adults can all be bullied; sometimes as a one-off incident; sometimes over a long period of time. Bullying can take many forms, such as hitting, name calling, spreading rumours, teasing, fighting, stealing, ignoring, physical threats & cyber bullying (via text or the internet). There are many reasons why individuals start to bully. However, bullying should never be accepted.
Every school, college, university and employer should have a bullying policy which is there to protect you from bullying incidents. There’s support available if you need it.
You’re not alone
Every 7 seconds, someone in Britain is being bullied. Every day, approximately 160,000 children and young adults miss school or college because of fear of bullying, and 30-50% of all stress-related illness at work is due to bullying. At least 20 children every year commit suicide because they are being bullied. We’re helping to bring these numbers down.
