Nurse Bobbie PosterEveryone has a responsibility to take care of their own overall physical and emotional care, which includes their sexual health. This means ensuring you are ready, comfortable and have made your own decision about when, where and with whom to have sex.

Finding out the facts about sex and contraception is a responsible thing to do and shows respect for yourself and for your sexual partner. Everyone is at risk from sexually transmitted infections or diseases (STIs/STDs) and pregnancy if you have unprotected sex or don’t know all the facts about sexual health.

You’re not alone

At times it may feel as if everyone you know is having sex or has lost their virginity – but this is rarely the case. We also know that there are a lot of myths about sex and it can be embarrassing and difficult to ask questions to find out more. Young people in Northamptonshire find the lowdown one of the easiest places to get support in sexual health.[1]
